Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Cars, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Police then located numerous other smeared cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure commented the attack left him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
